Ok on Sunday when my parent's friends Hank & Debbie stop by the house to be nosy - Hank notices that we have a grape arbor in the side yard. Way cool, the thing is huge. And the grapes are good to make sweet wine & jelly - can't remember the damn name of them tho. On Monday I get to the house about 7:30 am and go right to work on the thing...it's held up by a 6x6x6x6 pipe frame and stands about 5'5" high. The main stem of the grape vine has got to be about 100 years old - it's huge. So I start trimming away & realize this thing is totally out of control.. it has grown up and into all the crepe myrtlys near it & they stand about 30 feet tall, some of the vines are thicker than my wrists. It has crept into a large privet tree on the left side, and is choking the damn thing to death.
The damn arbor is assaulting me as I am trimming it up and trying to get it under control. The young canes are thin & green & have wicked thorns on them, and everything has those little feeliers that just cling & cling. You think you have a section all ready to be pulled at with all your might, and one of the feeliers is hanging, laughing it's little grape ass off at you. I managed to also discover 2 really nice azaela bushed that were being choked to death by the grapes too.
Two hours later, the arbor is much trimmed and looking happy and I am bleeding from both arms, both legs and have about a zillion more mosquito bites from the mosquito "hawks", bloody but triumphant! Ha one point to ME!
From there moved to to more ripping down of interior walls & ceilings and just basically sweated my ass off all day - it was about 97 with a heat index of 105. On average doing ten hour days at the house, and I have decided that the house needs a name.....any suggestions would be helpful.
