December 2009-January 2010

John & I went down for two weeks, for Christmas and New Years..We realized the 2 weeks is just not enough to spend the time and get projects done, so this coming year, it will be back to our three weeks.

Ali came down to spend Christmas week with us, and we had a cold snap. The coldest it had been down the county for 20 years.  So we took Ali to the aquarium (cant miss a visit there when someone comes to see us at the house!) and to Atlantic Beach. We spent Christmas Dinner at Mom and Dads. Johns main focus was to sister up the beams in the foyer ceiling, while I refinished the floor in the fireplace bedroom after Ali went back to Maine.
It was so cold, John kept his hat on...
The killer antique fridge John & picked up for $100.00. No more mice in the pantry! MuShu is checking out the spice rack...

Lots of storage space for the dry goods..We will work this into the future kitchen.

Me and Ali playing chinese checkers..my first time so she totally kicked my butt!
My first gingerbread house too..it was really lame but Ali & I had a good time making it!

Ali is a crab at the Aquaruim!

Christmas at Mom & Dad's

Refinishing the French Doors...a project that did not get finished this time around...my feeling is the need to be dipped.

Hardware from the french doors...Brass and Ivory..they came up beautifully with polishing.

Reinforcing the beams in the Foyer Ceiling..a major project to be completed.
After this pic..no more support posts!
The stripping of the Fireplace bedroom floor..frankly it was a BIOTCH!

Start of the polyurethane...we were pleasantly surprised to discover the floors upstairs are heart of pine, and when poly'd they come up RED!
After layers and layers of paint and linseed oil..we are back to just the natural beauty of the wood.

And this is the result of walking across the Fireplace bedroom floor, stepping into the open air vent and crashing thru to the library below....some bruises later, I was basically really pissed that I have to redo the ceiling in the library!
